So You Think You Can Swim?
Aug. 10th, 2008 10:40 pmThis morning (last night in Beijing), the French started talking trash about the American 4 x 100M mens relay team. I believe the quote was, "The Americans? We will smash them. That's what we came here to do."
Usually, I keep my jingoism to myself... this, however, requires a response. Especially considering the fact that the French had that race won, completely.
But Then...
Somehow, our anchor, who was not Michael Phelps, swam down the French anchor from a body length behind to out-touch him at the wall and snatch glorious starred-and-striped victory from the jaws of Maginot-ish defeat.
France? You got PWND!!
These moments are the reason I watch the Olympics.
